Albright sentenced to life in prison without parole

After standing trial in Franklin County District Court from July 11-14 and ultimately being found guilty of Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury and First-Degree Kidnapping, Charles Albright, 42, of Meservey, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Friday, August 11.

During the jury trial, Albright was tried for the abuse of his former live-in girlfriend Kim Hartman, 36. He was accused of beating and torturing Hartman on Oct. 7, 2016, in their shared Meservey home, and also of beating her in his vehicle while driving to Sheffield the same day. Hartman testified that the incident last year was just one of multiple acts of both emotional and physical abuse Albright had inflicted on her during their approximately two, to two-and-a-half year long relationship. After a reported 12 hours of torture through beatings, dog bites and use of a stun gun at the hands of Albright on Oct. 7, 2016, Hartman was left with broken bones in her face and sinuses, burn marks from a stun gun and an eye injury that caused protracted vision loss. She also had severe swelling to her face and eyes, dog bites on her body and severe bruising on her arms, legs, back, chest and neck, as documented by staff at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.
