Rockwell

In Rockwell, four seats are up for election this year: the mayor’s seat, currently held by James Bills, and three council at-large seats, which are currently held by Tim Brown, Tom Worley and Andy Johnson. The mayor position is a two-year term and all of the available council seats are four-year terms.

Bills, who has served one term as Rockwell’s mayor, is running for a second term this year. He said he made the decision to run for re-election to try to continue working on ways to benefit the city, specifically, through finishing a storm sewer project currently in the works.

“I’m trying to do stuff for the benefit of the city, and I would like to get elected to continue trying to do that,” Bills said.

Also running for mayor is Michael Flatness, who previously served two four-year terms on the Rockwell City Council from 2007-2015.

Flatness has lived in Rockwell for the last 18 years, and this is the first time he has attempted to run for mayor.

“I think it’s time for Rockwell to have someone that’s a visionary, to provide some leadership and guidance to help make Rockwell a better community,” Flatness said. “To expand its growth, make it a more inviting, welcoming community for young people, and support older folks as well.”
