Community invited to Rockwell’s first annual National Night Out

The officials of Rockwell have decided to partake in an event designed to strengthen community and police partnerships.

National Night Out, participated in by communities nationwide, will take place on Tuesday, Aug 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. in front of Rockwell’s City Hall.

Rockwell Chief of Police Rick Whitney decided to organize the event when he saw how many community members were unfamiliar with the town’s officials.

“When we had all of those residents come to our last couple of council meetings, a lot of them didn’t recognize the mayor,” explained Chief Whitney, “or didn’t know who was on the council.”
