Dougherty’s 15th annual Homemade Soup Contest

Dougherty celebrated its Irish roots during St. Patrick’s Day with their 15 th annual Homemade Soup Contest at the old school gym next to the closed St. Patrick’s Church.

The American Legion hosted the contest and Dougherty’s own Denny Campbell led the event.

There were 17 different soups to choose from this year, ranging from spicy chili, traditional corned beef and cabbage to soups filled with bacon and potatoes.

There were three celebrity judges chosen by Denny to judge the soup. Stephante Randall from KIMT, Pam Gessford, resident of Dougherty and owner of A Journey’s Past and the Pioneer Enterprise’s own editor, Zach Clemens.

About 100 people showed up to the event, ready to consume snacks as far as the eye could see, drinks—both alcoholic and non-alcoholic—and loads of sweets.
