Even esports on hold during COVID-19

The West Fork esports team isn't able to compete right now, but can practice if it has the game and console. SHEFFIELD – One of the school activities that feasibly could still be going on right now is esports since obviously that is the epitome of social distancing. Unfortunately for West Fork, that isn’t the case. The Iowa High School Esports Association, according to West Fork technology director Eric Burt, is on a hiatus since he said they haven’t heard anything from the association as of last week. “As of right now, the Spring 2020 Varsity Rocket League (which West Fork is a part of) season is on hold,” Burt said. “There are no official matches going on. Because of this, we haven’t had any games.
