Franklin Chorale celebrates 40th year with annual Christmas concert Dec. 2

One of Hampton’s most prominent musical groups is ready to celebrate its 40th year with a fun and festive Christmas concert.

This year’s Franklin Chorale annual Christmas concert will be Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 22 First Ave. SW in Hampton.

Founded by Mary Lou Semler in 1978, the Franklin Chorale has featured the best vocal talent the area has to offer for 40 years. All members are volunteers who offer their time and talents free of charge. The first installation of the Chorale’s Christmas concert served as a “thank you” concert from the Chorale to the community to express thanks for its support throughout the year.

From there, the Christmas concert became one of the Chorale’s most anticipated events and a centerpiece of Hampton’s holiday celebrations.
