Franklin County Courthouse Statues make their return

This week, after a restoration that fixed holes and other signs of weathered wear and tear, and rust repair, Justice and its friends returned to their homes atop the Franklin County Courthouse.

The week-long process challenged strong winds and weather but ultimately, prevailed over the natural elements.

In case you don’t know, here are the statues and what they represent:

"Justice" is the figure on the top of the Courthouse.

"Law" (holding the tablet of laws) is located on the northwest corner.

"Agriculture" (holding the sheaf of wheat and the grain cradle) is located on the southwest corner.

"Commerce or Industry" (showing the barrel, etc.) is located on the southeast corner.

"Mercy or Peace" (shown with head bowed and arms outstretched) is on the northeast corner.
