Judicial specialist retires after 20 years of service

Suzan Helmke is surprised it’s been 20 years since she began working at the Franklin County Clerk of Courts Office.

“Twenty years have really flown by,” said the judicial specialist for the department, adding that a working career spanning 40 years is hard to comprehend. “It doesn’t seem like I’ve worked for 40 years.”

Last Thursday marked the end of her 20 years of service with the department as she began her retirement. Helmke admits she’ll miss the office, her coworkers and the people she served. She said goodbyes were difficult on her final day because she’s enjoyed the work she’s been able to do and the people she’s helped along the way.

“I’ll definitely miss the people and even some of the work,” she said. “It’s been hard to say goodbye.”
