Meservey celebrates Independence Day

The community of Meservey and its neighbors came together to celebrate Independence Day last weekend.

Despite the heat wave that swept the area, dozens flocked to Meservey’s Schoolhouse Park Saturday for the second annual library carnival, which featured fun games for the children including a water ball slingshot and a giant sprinkler.

The library also celebrated 50 years of operation at the carnival as well with prizes, games and educational material.

The celebration’s evening events were thwarted by an impending storm, but the crowds reconvened Sunday for supper in the park and fireworks at dusk at City Park.
