Motorcycle brigade raises funds for Make-A-Wish Iowa

Downtown Rockwell rang with the sound of revving engines last Saturday morning as dozens of choppers lined the streets near the Rockwell Fire Department.

Although the bikers had gathered from all over northern Iowa to embark from Rockwell on a cycle journey, it wasn’t a typical Saturday Harley stroll.

The North Iowa Wish Ride occurs annually, but this year’s event served as a first for many Rockwell community members.

“This is the first time the ride has kicked off in Rockwell,” explained resident Casey Harper. “It normally starts in Mason City, so this is pretty exciting.”

Riders enjoyed a free-will donation breakfast at the Rockwell Fire Department and then made their way to surrounding communities including Hampton, Allison, Sheffield and Clear Lake.
