Rockwell City Council takes next step in Storm Water Project

The Rockwell City Council continued its progress at last Wednesday’s regular meeting toward the community’s Storm Water Project.

At its previous meeting in November, the Council approved the plan presented by McClure Engineering of West Des Moines for an estimated cost of $1,091,000.

At Wednesday’s meeting, the Council voted to approve the bid letting for the project to be Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 10 a.m in the Council Chambers. The public hearing to approve the plans and specs for the project would then take place at 7:05 p.m. at the regular council meeting that day.

The Council also approved moving the second regularly scheduled meeting of that month back two weeks to Wednesday, Jan. 29.

North Iowa Fair

Jason Baumann. speaking on behalf of the North Iowa Fair Association, went before the Council seeking funds to help support the 112 events per year that take place at the Fairgrounds in Mason City.

“We are visiting communities in the county seeking their assistance in supporting this worthwhile project,” he said. Baumann said that Clear Lake has designated $2500 for the project, while Ventura has contributed $500. Following further discussion, the Council chose to approve $750 for the project.
