Rockwell council to consider appointment for vacant seat

The Rockwell City Council bid farewell to council member Adam Wedmore during their regular meeting on Wednesday, November 7.

Wedmore offered his resignation on the council due to being elected the new County Auditor for Cerro Gordo County.

“We want to wish you the very best,” said Mayor Mike Flatness. “We thank you for your service here in the community. The city’s loss is the county’s gain.”

The city council will begin looking at candidates to fill Wedmore’s vacant council seat. The council has the option of either appointing somebody immediately or holding a special election. While an appointment is most likely, if interest in the position is high enough a member of the community could petition the city to require a special election.
