Rockwell examines storm sewer plans

Plans for Rockwell’s storm sewer renovation continued during their regular meeting on Wednesday, March 20.

Now that the city has settled on a path for funding the storm sewer project, the council met with Justin Miller of McClure Engineering to discuss the details of the project and tentative timetable.

Depending on how the bids come in, the project will involve two parts. The main renovation to the storm sewer will improve the water flow between Maple Street and Main Street, with construction happening in the alley that runs from City Hall west towards the creek. The bulk of the work is expected to be done over the summer, with a 100% completion date of May 1, 2020.

An optional second phase would also renovate the storm sewer on Elm Street, improving drainage around Sacred Heart Church and moving the water down 2nd Street into the newly renovated sewer from phase one.
