Rockwell floats idea for new city park

The Rockwell City Council met for their regular meeting on Wednesday, October 18 at city hall.

At the meeting, the council continued their discussion about reimbursing property owners along 4th St. South that had cleaned out their ditches, shortly before the city took action on their own. No decisions were made and the issue was tabled for the next council to consider in 2018.

In other business council member Brian Koob reported that the Linn Grove recreation board is considering plans to build a park near the water tower next to the city pool. Having a park in the city would be an asset for the community and its close proximity would enhance the nearby campground.

“We have a vision. It’s kind of in the beginning stages,” said Koob. “I think it’s a win/win for both organizations and the city as well.”

The city will need to open communications with the county to arrange a sharing agreement of some kind.
