Rockwell project may be delayed

Work on the recently approved Storm Water Project for the City of Rockwell faces the potential of being delayed.

During a special City Council meeting last Thursday, Mayor Mike Flatness talked about a previous meeting with the Project Contractor McKinness Excavating of Mason City and the Rockwell Coop Telephone Association (RCTA) regarding the Storm Water Project.

Flatness said the RCTA Manager said that he was not aware the fiber would need to be removed from the alley, which would lead to a period of 30 weeks needed to get the necessary fiber.

With that delay, McKinness indicated that would put off their starting date for the project until late fall.

“We have the bond issue in place and are ready to move forward with the project. The possible delay puts the city in a precarious position, so we need to work out the details,” Flatness said.
