Rockwell revs-up with 9th annual North Iowa Nationals

The sound of roaring engines and crackling loudspeakers echoed throughout Rockwell as hundreds of spectators packed the bleachers at Chamber Acres to watch tractors and trucks from all over the region compete in the North Iowa Nationals tractor and truck pull on July 7 and 8.

The annual event, hosted by the Rockwell Lions Club, has been a tradition in the Rockwell community for the last nine years, and is now the largest fundraiser for the Lions. The pull started out as a small-scale community event, and has grown into a National Tractor Pullers Association sanctioned event that welcomes excited attendees from all over the country, and sometimes even the globe.

“It’s probably the biggest event in north Iowa,” said Tim Nuehring, president of the Rockwell Lions Club. “We’ve had people from California that have been to our event, and last year we had two gentlemen that came all the way over from Denmark, so it’s kind of cool.”
