Rockwell sets fine to fight littering

Toss a cup from a car window, and it might soon cost you $250.

     The Rockwell City Council agreed Aug. 19 to set that amount as the littering fine within city limits in an effort to combat ongoing trash problems.

     “You can tell from the cups it’s different people,” Public Works Director Jay Siefken said.

     The city currently does not have a littering ordinance. Siefken pushed for setting the fine high and posting it on signs.
