Rockwell studies storm water problem

The Rockwell City Council discussed storm drainage issues during their regular meeting on Wednesday, April 19.

At the meeting, Andy Smith from WHKS engineering was present to discuss a storm drainage project with the council. Pooling storm water has been an ongoing issue with the city and the council has decided to take steps to address the problem.

WHKS will be looking at the main storm sewer trunk that goes in to Beaver Creek and will check the condition of the city’s storm pipes. This project may be funded as a capital improvement, but the city won’t know which avenue would be best for funding until more details are hammered out.

Public Works Director Jay Siefken informed the council that he has bids from engineering firms for the cost of the study, but with two council members absent from the meeting the decision to look at the bids was tabled until a full council was available to vote.
