Ashes to ashes

     Six months after Sacred Heart Parish in Rockwell lost their community center to a fire, the charred structure was torn down. 

     In the early morning hours on January 12, Rockwell residents witnessed flames engulfing Sacred Heart’s community center. Those flames lasted for hours and luckily there were no injuries, but the building was a total loss.

     It was hard to accept for Sacred Heart. The center was built in 1956 and was originally used as the Catholic school.  It was eventually converted to the Parish Center where the religious education program took place.  It also housed the Parish’s fundraisers like the Irish Fair, as well as various community meetings.
