Scholten hosts Town Hall meeting in Swaledale

J.D. Scholten, Democratic candidate for Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, brought his “Don’t Forget About Us” tour to Swaledale Sunday evening.

The tour features Scholten visiting towns of less than 1,000 population in all 39 counties in the district. This is the second time he is campaigning for the position. He narrowly lost out to Republican incumbent Steve King the first time Scholten emphasized the three key points of his current campaign as being Fix, Fight and Secure.

“We need to fix our current health care system. Ultimately, our goal should be universal health care,” he said.

“We also need to fight for our democracy. I feel we should fight for an economy that works for everyone. As a nation, we currently value wealth and not the work our every day employees do. That needs to change,” Scholten said.
