Second Swaledale write-in candidate turns down council seat
The Swaledale City Council is having a hard time filling out their ranks.
Three seats were open on the council going into this year’s November election. Two of those seats easily went to incumbents Jon Bonner and Troy Smeby with 20 write-in votes each.
Karen Holm won the third open seat with four write-in votes, however she declined the position.
With Holm’s declination, the council seat was to be offered to the second runner-up. In this case, the next in line for the seat was a tie between two candidates, Howard Harmon and incumbent Marge Swenson. Neither candidate ran for the seat, but both received two write-in votes each.
