Sheffield Council finalizes approval to Water Main Replacement Project

During its regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening, the Sheffield City Council finalized approval to the Water Main Replacement Project.

The Council approved Pay Estimate #9 in relation to the project. Chase Holien, a design engineer with WHKS & Co., of Mason City, was on hand to inform the Council that the project was completed.

The Council accepted the project, which meant that the two-year maintenance bond would take effect. Finally, the Council approved the payment of Pay Estimate #10 in relation to the project in 30 days.

City Employees reports Public Works Director Pat Nuehring indicated that his department is in the process of getting ready for winter. “We are waiting for the county to deliver a sand/salt mix,” he said.

He added that the replacement of the water main on Gilman Street will wait until the weather warms up a bit. Nuehring also indicated that the fluoride levels in the community’s water supply are at an acceptable level.
