Sheffield council splits on Safe T Home

The Sheff ield City Council applied the brakes on putting a Sukup Safe T Home at the city campground during their regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 10.

At the meeting, the council considered a bid to install electrical service for a Safe T Home to be placed at the city campground, which led into a greater discussion about whether the city wanted a Safe T Home at the campground at all.

During the previous meeting the council unanimously approved the pursuit of grants and donations to allow one of Sukup Manufacturing’s Safe T Homes to be built at the campground as a tourist attraction. However, the notion of running electricity to the building left some council members considering the ongoing maintenance costs and responsibilities.

“We can’t stop kids from breaking into the pool half the time,” said council member James Robbins. “What are we supposed to do with a cabin in the park?”
