Sheffield meets with Amenities Group

The Sheffield City Council discussed park improvements and noise complaints during their regular meeting on Monday, May 13.

At the meeting the council met with Holly Coffee of the newly formed Amenities Group to discuss ideas to spruce up the city park. "It's in dire need of some updates," said Coffee, whose group has toured the park looking for ways it can be improved.

They found that the park is in need of new grass and landscaping, benches need cleaning, the shelter house could use a new coat of paint, and the gazebo needs structural repairs. Other ideas for improvements included extending the playground and adding rubber mulch, installing sidewalks, and adding grills.

"We would like to make it the central place where people gather," said Coffee.

The Amenities Group isn't asking the city for any funding at the moment, but are looking for volunteers and donations to help accomplish some of their goals. For their part, the council agreed that the group could start making plans to implement some of their suggestions, such as landscaping around the star and fixing up the gazebo.
