Sheffield Police Department responds to elevated scam concerns; water main project will be soon underway

P olice Chief Sam Cain reported a higher than usual amount of scam calls in his monthly Police Department report, and Public Works Director Pat Neuhring relayed the water main renovation project schedule at the Sheffield City Council regular assembly last Monday, April 9.

According to Cain, the fraud cases are largely Facebook scams. Victims are convinced to put money into grants and other fake purchases.

Additionally, the chief of police reported four traffic accidents in Sheffield last month and one arrest for public intoxication.

There could be a new face in the Sheffield Police Department, as well. An individual came forward to the council during the public forum inquiring about an internship with Chief Cain; the individual is pursuing a BS in Criminal Justice and hopes to spend several weeks riding with Cain.
