Sheffield waves goodbye to summer with People in the Park celebration

The community of Sheffield gathered for a late-summer celebration on Saturday, Aug. 25 at the annual People in the Park celebration–a day packed with a kid-friendly festivities and entertainment for the whole family.

The event, organized by the Sheffield Community Club, started the morning with a parade and an omelet breakfast. Families then flooded the city park for lunch, bouncy houses, Bingo and an assortment of other games and activities. MoJo Productions provided musical entertainment throughout the afternoon.

The 2018 dignitaries were honored in the park and also featured in the parade. They are as follows: Ned and Bev Bohach, Grand Marshals; Vera Campbell, Outstanding Citizen; Noreen Schwierjohann, C.C. Gilman Award winner; Gladys Amendt and Lyle Krull, Sheffield Care Center Queen and King, respectively.

The event also featured the crowning of Little Mr. and Miss West Fork, Clyde Allen and Olivia Rother on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at the Sheffield Care Center. The Community Club also named Landon Tollefson as Honorary Little Mr. West Fork.
