Swaledale buries time capsule

The City of Swaledale buried their new time capsule on Wednesday, November 1.

Dug up for the city’s 125th anniversary earlier this summer, the time capsule held business cards, newspapers, and items from the city’s 100th anniversary two and a half decades prior. City council minutes from the year 1890 were also found within.

Before putting the capsule back in the ground, the city included some current business cards, photos of the town, and a letter for the next generation to read.

“A big thanks goes to Rex Liekweg Tile and Excavating for digging the hole for us,” said Mayor John Drury.

The time capsule will be re-opened once again in June of 2042 when the city celebrates.
