Swaledale City Council highlights

     The Swaledale City Council held their regular monthy meeting on Jan. 9 in City Hall, and here are the highlights from the minutes:

     Appointments were made by mayor John Drury for 2017 with John Bonner appointed as Mayor Pro Tem and Yvonne Reicherts and John Drury are on the Landfill of North Iowa Board.

     Mayor Drury advised the Council that the city attorney would be preparing an offer to purchase the former First Security Bank building. The plan is to convert it into city offices.

     The Council discussed issues that need to be addressed in the 2017 budget preparation, including water and sewer rates, future diseased tree removal and the need for a larger portion of Public Works Director Greg Meier’s wages to be reimbursed by the sewer account.
