Swaledale enjoys a community potluck

A rainy day didn’t stop the fun in Swaledale on Saturday, June 15 as the community came together for a “Spring Fling” potluck dinner.

Organized by Cathy Caspers Diercks and Cindy Caspers McDermott as a less work-intensive way to celebrate the community, as opposed to Big Day, the event invited the community to gather together downtown for a potluck dinner where guests brought salads, cakes, and side dishes to add to a pork loin sandwich donated and prepared by the Caspers family.

“We wanted to do something as a community,” said Diercks. “I hope everybody has a really good time.”

In addition to the meal, the town enjoyed the musical stylings of The Spacemen, a local band of area teenagers that has been playing at parties, parades, and events across North Iowa. Sponsored by First Security Bank, the band rocked out for the community as they finished their meal.
