Swaledale welcomes new clerk; searches for new public works director

It was a meeting of new beginnings for the Swaledale City Council as they met on Monday, July 9.

The meeting began with a celebration of City Clerk Judy Witte's retirement, with the city presenting her with a commemorative clock in appreciation for her years of service.

"It's been an interesting 14 years," said Mayor John Drury. "I've always appreciated your work and your honesty and the town is in a better place since you've been here."

Witte is passing down the city clerk job to Jena Plagge, who has officially taken over Witte's responsibilities as clerk.

"I know I'm leaving good things in the hands of Jena and I hope she likes it as much as I have," said Witte.
