Thornton council discusses property issues, ordinances

The Thornton City Council met on Monday, August 7, to discuss multiple property related and general maintenance topics.

The possibility of the city purchasing the property at 337 Main Street was brought up, and council member Rob Duff addressed the council stating that the property owner, Jack Colburn, was getting ready to sell it. The Colburn property, according to Duff, is directly attached to the community center that the city maintains. Duff said that he wanted to bring it up to the council to see if they would want to buy the property.

“The only reason I’m bringing it up is because it is adjacent to the community center,” Duff said. “I know the fire department at one time wanted some storage space.”
