Thornton Finds New Mosquito Extermination Service

The Thornton City Council approved a new service for mosquito control during their regular meeting on Monday, May 5.

     The council approved a three year contract with Land Graphics out of Belmond at $1,400 per year. Land Graphics will spray the city six times a year. Sprays for the county park and golf course will be included if the city arranges additional contracts between Land Graphics and the respective owners.

            Earl Hill from North Iowa Spin visited the council to ask permission to run the annual Bicycle, Blues, BBQ race through the city. This will be the 10th year for the event, sporting a record prize for the race. The route includes three passes through Thornton on July 12 and 13.
