Thornton plans for 2019

The Thornton City Council kicked off the New Year by recapping some old business during their first regular meeting of 2019 on Monday, Jan 7.

At the meeting the council was updated on the status of the city’s water meter replacements, with Public Works Director Tom Janeka reporting that less than a dozen water meters are left to be replaced, with some having to wait until spring to be swapped out with the newer models.

On the subject of water, the council discussed a problem that a resident is having with keeping water out of their basement. It was suggested that the resident could work with the city to install tile that could better move water towards the city’s storm sewer. While it was undecided to what extent the city would contribute, it was noted that it’s in the best interest of both the resident and the city to keep the water moving.
