Volunteers wanted for flood cleanup trip in southwest Iowa

Volunteers are needed to a pack a bus to pitch in with flood relief assistance this weekend.

Chris Sauke, Church of the Living Word, said he is seeking 55 people to travel to Hamburg, Iowa to help out those who have been affected by the catastrophic flooding that began last month.

The bus will leave at 4:30 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church parking lot on Saturday, April 13 and will return at roughly 10 p.m. that evening. Sauke said he wants to pack the bus and bring as many people as possible but with a capacity of 55, he said he encourages people to contact him and reserve a spot.

“I’d like them to contact me so we have an idea of how many we have going along,” he said. “If we have 60 people show up, not everyone will get to go.”
