Warhawks end season on a good note

SHEFFIELD — Not only was West Fork’s 46-38 win over North Union in its home finale a great way for the Warhawks to end the season, it matched the most wins for the program in seven years.

It also marked the end of the first season under head coach James Perez, who guided the team to its first district victory over the Warriors, in a district that had two playoff qualifiers (the champion, Algona Garrigan, and West Hancock, and feasibly could have had a third (Belmond-Klemme, finishing 17th in RPI, the post-season qualifier implemented this season by the IHSAA).

“It was good to end on a high note like that,” Perez said. “They worked their tails off and I hope the kids realize that the future is bright here at West Fork and hope they continue that to next season..."
