West Fork Approves Elementary Changes; Prepares For Next School Year

Big changes are in store for West Fork's littler students. Starting next year, the district will change their elementary so that all West Fork students of a particular grade will go to class in the same building. Since the reorganization of the district, elementary students from kindergarten through third grade have been split between the Rockwell and Sheffield campuses, eventually joining together in fourth grade in Rockwell. However, declining enrollments and the imbalance of population between campuses has put the district in a situation where the district may have to hire a third teacher for a class even though the total number of students only justifies two. "We need to remain a district that functions within its financial parameters and strives to provide the best education for all kids," said Superintendent Darrin Strike in his presentation about the need for the change.Read the full article in the April 24 edition of the papers.
