West Fork boys basketball suffers first loss of season
SHEFFIELD – Fourth-ranked New Hampton came to Sheffield and handed the previously unbeaten and third-rated West Fork boys basketball team its first loss of the season on Saturday, Jan. 18.
The Chicasaws, which hadn’t played in a game in eight days, came out early and stunned the Warhawks who were playing their third contest in three days by building a sizable lead in an eventual 66-58 tilt.
“I don’t like giving away what other teams need to do against us, but...Sam Amsbaugh is our leading scorer, coming in at 22 points a game (he finished with half that)…they had all week to scout us and they did a great job,” Senior guard Hunter Myers said. “They double-teamed down low and made us make a lot of jump shots and we didn’t make enough of them. They hit their shots and they played a great game. They deserved to beat us.”
