West Fork enrollment is up

West Fork School Superintendent Mike Kruger reported at Monday’s monthly Board of Education meeting that the enrollment for the district has increased by 15 students.

Kruger noted that this year’s enrollment numbers are 719.40 students, compared to 704 last year.

“Having an increase is always good. We want to continue to do what we can to make West Fork the only choice for parents in the area to send their children,” Kruger said.

Middle School softball Coach Mary Schulz was on hand to discuss the future of a Middle School softball program.

“Our Little League program is currently hooked in with the one in Hampton. They have a nice group of coaches in that program that help the girls learn the needed fundamentals. If we could run a Middle School program, which would include seventh and eighth graders, and piggyback it with our JJV team which currently includes eighth and ninth graders, the opportunities would be there for the kids to have more games on their schedule,” she said.

The Board indicated they would be in favor of that move and would also be interested in pursuing that move for the West Fork baseball program.
