West Fork hires Flatebo to be Elementary Principal

The West Fork Board of Education has hired an Elementary Principal for the 2020-2021 school year.

The action was taken last Wednesday afternoon during a special meeting at the Superintendent’s Office at Rockwell.

The Board unanimously approved Ashley Flatebo for the job. She will replace retiring Principal Tracy Peterson, who has been with the West Fork District since the 2015-2016 school year.

Flatebo currently serves as a School Improvement and Instructional Technology Consultant for Central Rivers Area Education Agency (AEA).

In her current role, she supports multiple schools — including West Fork — in analyzing data, supporting school improvement efforts, working with Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) targeted schools, supporting Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), implementing Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs and improving Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS).

She previously served the Mason City Schools as an elementary and middle school instructional coach, where she initially started her career as an elementary and middle school science teacher.
