West Fork nabs first quarter lead in win over Bulldogs

SHEFFIELD – For one quarter, Hampton-Dumont made a bid at unseating the West Fork boys’ basketball team’s dominance in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer game.

But the Warhawks’ got a late three-pointer from Cody Wegner in the first quarter and never trailed again in an eventual 63-54 win over the Bulldogs on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Drew Engebretson scored 11 of his team-high 19 points in the second half, going 6-of-9 from the free throw line down the stretch to hold off H-D.

“We got in a situation at the end of the game where Drew Engebretson had the ball in his hands, I always feel pretty confident that he can take care of business,” West Fork head coach Frank Schnoes said....
