West Fork School Board meeting

The West Fork Board of Education dealt with a number of issues at its July meeting Monday night.

This was the first West Fork School Board meeting for Superintendent Michael Krueger, who replaced Darrin Strike in that position July 1.

One of the key issues for Monday night’s meeting was a decision on replacing a walk-in school cooler at Rockwell.

Following a recommendation by Kruger, the board unanimously approved a bid of $19.047.34 submitted by M & N Heating & Cooling of Rockwell.

“We received two other bids for the project, with this one being the one that will best serve our needs,” Kruger said.

     Food issues

The boardalso approved raising the cost of individual breakfast and lunch daily meals for the upcoming school year.

Both meals will see their prices increase 10 cents per day. Breakfast will now cost $1.70, while lunch will be available for $2.60.

In another food related issue, the board awarded the bread bid for the 2019-2020 school year to Bimbo Bakeries USA and its milk bid to Anderson Erickson Dairy Products.

     Other business

     In other business, the board:

     • Approved Rick Engle to be in charge of district legal representation for the upcoming school year.

“He has had a long-standing agreement with the district and has continued to do an excellent job,” commented Kruger.

     • Approved the following personnel contracts for the 2019-2020 school year: Sheena Petersen as wrestling cheerleading coach; Jon Stevens at bus driver and Keith Sears as assistant varsity volleyball coach.

Petersen will also share football cheerleading coaching duties with Jessica Barnes.

     • Approved minor adjustments to the student handbooks for the 2019-2020 school year.

     • Approved open enrollment requests

     • Heard reports from the respective school principals.
