West Fork sets up staff for the next school year

It was the last school board meeting for West Fork Superintendent Darrin Strike as the board closed out the fiscal year during their regular meeting on Monday, June 17.

The board thanked Strike for his years of service to the district and approved a contract for his replacement, Michael Kruger.

Kruger, who once worked in the district when it was SCMT, is currently a shared superintendent at Northeast Hamilton and Stratford. The district announced that they had offered the superintendent position to Kruger earlier this month. He begins on July 1.

In other personnel matters, the board approved contracts for Jessica Barnes to serve as the cheer coach, Alex Brayton to coach varsity boys track, Jennifer Otten as the yearbook advisor, and Samantha Sturges as a new administrative assistant.

The board also agreed to add the position of District Activities Photographer. Eric Burt has been taking photos of school activities on his own time but the work involved in taking and processing pictures for parents to buy has greatly increased since he started. Burt has requested that the district create an activities photographer position, similar to other extra roles that faculty sometimes take such as play advisor or class sponsor. This position would pay six percent of the base salary.
