West Fork talks teacher development; hires athletic trainer

The West Fork Community School Board was updated on teacher development and targeted learning techniques during their meeting on Monday, Oct. 16.

The board was updated about the Teacher Leadership Program. Wendy Fullerton, Stacy Ubben and Kim Johnson presented information about the statewide professional development program, which encourages teachers to collaborate and observe each other in order to receive feedback and share ideas.

The program has been met with some hesitation by more veteran teachers used to doing things their own way without other teachers around, but Fullerton says that more and more are getting used to the collaborative program.

“The teacher leadership program is a big step for teachers,” said Superintendent Darrin Strike. “Now it’s kind of the norm to have people coming in and out.”
