Witte to retire as Swaledale city clerk

Retiring Swaledale City Clerk Judy Witte is wrapping up a nearly 14-year tenure in that position.

Witte started as city clerk after retiring from the field of education. “I was looking for something parttime when I saw this position was available. I applied and was hired,” she said.

What does she enjoy most about the position? “I like the flexibility of the job and the variety of things involved,” she said.

The addition of computer software has been one of the primary accomplishments she has helped to achieve during her time as city clerk.

“I am also very proud of writing grants to help finance improvements for the park and the town hall,” she added.

Among the accomplishments was being able to move the offices of the town hall to their present location on Main Street within the past couple of years.
