Rockwell residents lead Sheriff on gravel road pursuit
Two residents of Rockwell led police on a chase through farm country and were eventually arrested on drug charges.
On Jan. 21, at approximately 9 p.m., a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to pull over a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup near Partridge and Owl Avenues. The pickup did not stop, and the pursuit continued for some time along gravel roads, according to a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s report.
The law enforcement chase ended in a field with no injuries.
The driver, Danny Lee Belcher, 45, of Rockwell, was arrested and charged with eluding and possession of a controlled substance, both of which are class D felonies.
The passenger in the vehicle, Vanessa Rose Belcher, 42, also of Rockwell, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a class B felony; failure to affix a drug stamp, D felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The pickup truck and squad car sustained minor damage.
