Chuckles for charity • Youth For Christ Comedy Café draws 400 to Hampton

A room full of laughs tells the story of annual event designed to help area youth.

North Iowa Youth For Christ’s annual Comedy Café was held for the 10th time in Hampton at the Franklin County Convention Center. The annual tour, which stops at other Youth For Christ locations throughout the region, serves as the main fundraiser for the Hampton Youth For Christ center.

Darwin VanHorn, Franklin County Area Youth for Christ Director, said the money helps fund programming and the center in general. He said early estimates show this year’s event attracted 400 people and generated more than $18,000.

“We’re very thankful and blessed for the support,” he said. “That will go a long ways.”
