Second half surge by senior sparks Warhawks
Rylan Fleshner of West Fork fakes a pass to a teammate before going up for a lay-up during the Warhawks’ 61-56 win over Rockford. (Kristi Nixon/Hampton Chronicle)
SHEFFIELD — Down early and facing a pure shooter in Rockford’s Zach Bushbaum, who was hitting everything in the first half, West Fork senior Rylan Fleshner decided to take things into his hands.
A tremendous second half for Fleshner and the Warhawks turned a close game throughout the final three quarters to a 61-56 win for coach Frank Schnoes’ team at home.
“I was angry,” Fleshner said of going from four points at half to 21. “So I just said, ‘screw it, let’s just score.’”
