Grundy Center stuns 21-win W. Fork

SHEFFIELD – In a stunning turn of events, Grundy Center got out to a big early lead against Class 1A District 6 baseball host and top seed West Fork and never trailed in a 7-6 opener at Sheffield on Tuesday, July 12.

The Spartans, with seven wins, connected for five hits and the 21-9 Warhawk defense committed three errors on the contact made as they got out to a 6-0 lead against starter Dawson Zeitler.

“The boys did well,” Grundy Center coach Jason Burroughs said. “They came here knowing they were behind the ball a little bit and as a lower seed and they came here ready to fight…”
