SHEFFIELD – Tip to finish, West Fork boys’ basketball team, ranked as high as third in Class 1A, played up to its rating in a 71-39 rout of Hampton-Dumont in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer game.

By halftime, the Warhawks held a commanding 42-15 advantage and started the continuous clock soon after the fourth quarter started.

West Fork coach Frank Schnoes said that first half was probably his team’s best of the season.

“We played as good a half as we had all season in the first half,” Schnoes said. “We hit some outside shots, got some inside shots going, defensively we got some steals, some breakaways. The kids were locked in early.”
