DES MOINES – So close they could taste it, the third-ranked Warhawk boys basketball team were held off by No. 1 Western Christian in the Class 2A title game on Friday night, 48-38.

It was the second year in a row West Fork finished runner-up.

An inconsolable Sam Amsbaugh expressed that it was a bitter pill to swallow.

“A huge disappointment…every year,” Amsbaugh said. “That (No.) 40 (Taylor Feenstra) did a good job of contesting shots. They did a box-and-one on me and I just didn’t step up…”
